William ‘Mac’ Bozman Replaces Albert as Harold Herman Endowed Chair in Music Theatre
Professor of Music Thomas Albert has been named the Charles B. Levitin Endowed Chair in Music Theatre at Shenandoah University. Shenandoah Conservatory Dean Michael Stepniak made the announcement during a faculty meeting on January 25.
“Professor Albert’s enthusiastic support for the musical theatre program is second to none among our theatre faculty at Shenandoah,”said Dean Stepniak. “Beyond that, his scholarly credentials are exemplary and detail why he is so worthy of this honor.”
As an active composer for nearly four decades, Albert has seen his concert music performed throughout the United States as well as in Europe, Brazil, Japan and Korea. He has served as music director and conductor for more than 100 musicals and revues during Shenandoah’s academic year seasons and for Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre.
Albert will step down as the Harold Herman Endowed Chair in Music Theatre to become the Charles B. Levitin Endowed Chair in Music Theatre.
Stepniak also announced at the faculty meeting that Professor of Theatre William “Mac”Bozman, who specializes in scenic and lighting design, will replace Albert as the Harold Herman Endowed Chair in Music Theatre. “Mac has been an indefatigable supporter of theatre at Shenandoah Conservatory and has played a central role in its development over the past decades,”Stepniak said.
